Im trying to change my rear shock absorbers and the bump stops are completely shot. How can I remove them from the shock absorber as they aren't pulling off any tips?

Have you released the top shock nut? If it is removed and the bump stop is tight, the best way to get it of is with a hack saw.

do they look like large salt and pepper pots?
if so after you have taken the top mount off is there not a 'c' clip on the shaft preventing you from pulling it off ?
