How do i get a shock to stay up ?

i changed a shock on a 1993 toyota 1993 4wd v6 and i put the new one on and now the new one is not staying up can any one help meHow do i get a shock to stay up ?
Either you didn't mount it correctly or one of the mounts is broken.
